What do you want to be?

What do you want to BE when you grow up?

Is it power that you want? Being a powerful statesman, a cunning politician, a high ranking official can give one enough power to show the world that you are one among many!

Is it fame that you long for? Being a movie star or a singer. A glamorous lifestyle everyone long for, you can have it all.

Is it money, that you desire? Get into a business and start earning, no one would stop you from doing so. You can even sleep along with your cash and cards if you so desire. The world will be yours for the buying.

OR, is it happiness we all long for? Is it not that we all search for in all these...these things of desires? I have once read of a story about a woodcutter who cut wood half the day and sleeps the rest of the day. So one day a teacher was walking by the woods when he saw the wood cutter lying peacefully asleep on a hill top.

The teacher, feeling very righteous about his life, woke him up and asked him a question.

" What are you doing my friend?"

"I am enjoying my life! Why?

"Don't you know that if you work for the whole day rather than half of the time, you can earn more money?"

"What would i do with more money?"

"Well, we can start by getting yourself better axes and saws"

"What would i need those for?"

"Well.... you can cut more trees in less time and earn more money"

"What would i do with more money?"

"Lots of things!! You can start by hiring lots of people to cut trees"

"What would cutting more trees do to me?"

"Well my friend, you can earn more money with it and enjoy your life!"

"Well sir, thank you so much for the chat, but i already told you that i was enjoying my life... until you came" .... and the wood cutter went back to his peaceful nap....

What is happiness? You decide...

Two lines that made my day!

I'm a sucker for inspirational quotes. I get fairly off the beat sometimes for reading them too much. Let me just bore you with a two i found recently...and love so much!

If you're going through hell, keep going.
~Winston Churchill

I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much. ~Mother Teresa

Walk Away!!!

Why does this happen to me every time? They say that you need to be careful driving, cause even if its somebody else's fault, you could still get hurt. Well i'd say you need to be careful when you drink, or who you drink with. Cause even if you could control your alcohol someone else might not be able to.

I've written an article about how to control drinking tendencies or rather too much of it.
If you choose to drink
Its hard for a guy to walk away from a fight where your friends are the victim. Its hard. Here i am discussing how Mizoram & us the people can be more respected, can be more successful and everything else. But when it comes to your friend being beaten up by another Mizo guy in the middle of a local Hyderabadi residency area because they were both drunk... that is a situation i hate facing. Every time i have decided to take my friends along and walk away so that no greater harm is done to the name and face of a Mizo guy than what is already done. As a GUY, sometimes the urge to fight back no matter what, becomes bigger than ever. But LORD, i pray that i could walk away again.

Wedding bells are ringing in the chapel !!

Recently i was in a hospital bed for a day because of being too handsome (kidding- dont take my words on that) :-D

I was bored to death lying there, so started calling every number i have.

After speaking to a few people i came to know about my ex-girlfriend getting married.

Man! It wasn't the sweetest news i heard all week. Its not like i have or still love her, but something do strike you when things such as this come your way.

Let me let you in on a few details. I have chosen a life where i need to be away from Mizoram (home place) most of the time. And i hate having a long distance relationship. Its not so hard to break up with someone if you really try.

She was sweet, innocent, simple and submissive. The girl next door who everyone wants to marry. And yes, she was just next door literally. I can go there anytime of the day and watch her go about her chores in the house. And she was good with everything and which, is definitely a good thing.

Life was good, until this dumb-a$$ decided to look for greener pastures.

Now i'm standing here, thinking how stupid could one get. Its true 'you never know what you got till its gone.' So kids - Cherish what you have, cherish the love and cherish LIFE. 'Cause you cannot be sure what tomorrow might bring.

Land of diversity/Land of partiality

Gawd! I'm late again...

My thoughts were all but focused on the time until the next scene changed to something unexpected.

Three shabby guys were on a moped zigzag-ing through the traffic and the next moment every vehicle seem to stop. All i see was two cops running after something. Took a closer look and saw the cops beating the poor fellows on the moped.

I couldnt help but laugh at that moment. Bad luck!!

But have you ever felt something odd when you really felt funny but no one around you were laughing. Thats how stupid i felt when i look around and saw no one was laughing.

I dont know why i feel i'm the odd one out that moment? Lets see, these guys were pretty beaten up by the cops. The main offence i could see from the backseat of an auto was that three guys were travellin on a two wheeler and that too without a single helmet. Tough luck. Its still funny. Hyderabadis have no sense of humor!!!

Two minutes later on that same road Ms Zinta (name assumed) and her two friends (!!) zoomed pass us on their new much-ly celebrated SCOOTY. These ladies are good enough not to let the poor policeman run around in the hot sun, so they let them sit quietly in their roadside tent.

India the land of diversity, the land of new opportunities have many a setback regarding how we treat and live with our differences. Today's event shows only a part of it. We seem to be in a disjoint society of haves and have-nots. Specially here, fame & money can get you anything and anywhere.

During my college days, my hostel closes all gates at 9, either you have to be inside or out. But after a while we learnt that there are always exceptions to the rule as long as you know how to swear and disdain the poor security guards manning the gates. I still feel funny that we were actually trying to beg the security to let us in, when we can simply call him names and get in and out without any problem. Well what can i say, this is India. And yes, Preity Zinta's picture has nothing to do with this write up.

What is True Love??

Recently I went for an interview, and the guys actually asked me to write this topic. The rules were pretty simple; write one page on the topic, research on the net if you want. time limit 1 1/2 hours. So I got down to business and found that it aint that easy writing about this 4-lettered word on a job interview. So this was what I turned up with. Enjoy :-)

What is love?
Mankind has tried numerous ways to define the true meaning of love. There have been numerous definitions on the meaning of the four letter word. Well, love has been a source of joy for many people. As Karen Sunde describes: "To love is to receive a glimpse of heaven." Everybody wants to fall in love and it seems to be the hot cake everywhere man of both sexes resides.
But, what is love? And is there a true love and a FAKE love? Love may be defined in a lot of ways, but there isn’t one definition that describes what each of us felt when we were in love. Here’s a great definition of love by an unknown author: "Love is like a violin. The music may stop now and then, but the strings remain forever." We have seen men and women conquer enemies, climbed heights, swim a thousand oceans all because of love. Is love that powerful? Love do seems to cross all limitations of science.
The Bible describes it best: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:5-7. There would never be a more perfect love than the ones mentioned above, if man can only follow these lines.
So what is fake love or what love is fake? We find that the four letter word is being misused everyday for the want of physical desires. The term ‘Love’ may have been used in different scenarios without the true qualities of being in Love. This maybe called ‘fake’ love.
So are YOU in love? Simple signs are - this is somebody with whom you feel comfortable and enjoy spending time. This should be somebody you look forward to sharing an important experience with, and without that person, that experience would not be as special. Finally, you should feel that your life is fundamentally enhanced by having this person with you and when this person is not with you, you lose something meaningful. drDrew.com
Do you think of a person and just smile for no reason? Do you day dream about a person all day long? Do you blush when you meet that someone? Do you think about him/her before going to bed, does the thought of him/her keeps you up at night? Are you jealous just seeing him/her laughing away with someone else. We don’t have to tell you when you’re in love. You can always know when hit that spot. Cheers

Trip To Bangalore / Bangaluru

My trip to Bangalore was quite interesting. I'd be wrong if I say I didn't enjoy myself. The city was both vibrant and peaceful at the same time as always. I love Bangalore, because of a lot reasons. Let me mention one incident I came across here; a bus conductor tried to make fun of me in English!! (atleast a welcome change from the unknown Hindi & Ching-chong-ching murmurs).

Here's how it goes-
Myself: Bose, Ejipura?
Conductor: Bose, we go to Nilasandra. Vy, you are still young naw? You can walk from there naw?

I also have to mention the FM radios. No, i haven't had any idea about other metros; but comparing with Hyderabad's radios, Bangalore's Mirchi is bigger-better and more spicy :-D

Met lot of my old and new friends. Pecos's still the same sweet place it was back in the old days. I do miss this place.

Now, why am I choosing to move to Hyderabad when I feel Bangalore is a good place to be?
First thing, Everything comes with a cost. Living expenditure is high in Bangalore. You loose a rupee everytime you step out of your house (Not really) hehe.
Second, Bangalore have been a kind of a comfort Zone for me after spending a few years here. I need to move out that comfie space before I grow weak :-) Does that really happen to people? ( i don't really know)
Third, I dont have this last reason before I come here, but now I've seem to come up with one. My shack here in Hyderabad isn't that all too bad, and dont really want to move out of this cozy li'l place :-)

Everything happens with a reason. I know I'm here with a reason. Now I'm only waiting for a thick book of manuals to come down from above that will tell me what I am doing here and how to do what I'm supposed to be doing. :-D

Tips on buying that pair of Jeans - Elvy

FOR HIM
When was the last time you got yourself a nice pair of Jeans? Here are a few tips to get you that look which you would love to carry with you always...
1.If you're the slim type of built, go for a straight-cut or a scissor-cut jeans; that would make you look towering! You are the lucky ones who don't have to worry themselves with the colour...
2. If you are an average built, go for an anti-fit but avoid faded designs & stripes as that would make you look much wider than you want to.
Go for darker shades or something that aren't too faded! You can also experiment scissor cuts...
3. If you're a large built kinda guy, avoid wearing over sized Jeans to hide those extra pounds. Cause that would only add more pounds. Go for darker color and sizes that fits you perfectly, avoid tight ones as well.

A perfect pair of Jeans always goes with a simple V-neck T-shirt and flat shoes. Well that perfectly fits your Lazy Sunday evening stroll.

Who Needs A Hug?

My friend just moved to a new place away from home. Though she doesn't tell me, i can tell that she is very lonely from the way she calls up for no reason during her lunch hours and evenings. Getting to a new place, there are a lot of things to get adjusted to, imagine yourself in a place where everyone's a stranger. All the times you used to spend with your friends could turn out to be the time you have the solitude of being alone.

Now if you are alone, there would be times when you would feel like telling somebody about the incident you had with the taxi, or maybe that li'l accident you faced in the restaurant.

There is that time when you just wanted to be hugged, a time when you needed somebody to appreciate the work that you do, even if its for your own self. Just a simple nod, a pat in the back, a simple smile; the ingredients 0f human existence.

I don't know bout a lot of you guys, but a simple hug do make a big difference for me.

Are you lonely tonight, are you feeling alone despite being in a big crowd, or just plain nostalgic?

Just remember there's always someone who's ready to give you a hug. A simple one, just to know that we are humans. That we are nothing like the wolves and lions we seem to be; but rather a group of people who care for one another.

So here's a BIG hug from me .....!

Mail Scam / US$800,000 (Eight Hundred Thousand United States Dollars)

Recently i got a mail that gave me a lot of thoughts about money and consequently life. It all started one night when i receive a mail from a lottery. I was the winner of a $8000000 US Dollars !!! Besides all the doubts and hesitations of believing something on the net, you can't help but cherish that moment of winning the unbelievable.

Here are a few sequence of what i went through.
First, when you receive a mail like this your first thought is that its a fake, straightaway.
Point to be noted - First thoughts are always better than second thoughts!

Then you began to wonder, what if this was true. Then came the phase where you start looking for something to believe, something to justify yourself among friends, family and colleagues. You tell yourself that if there weren't any spelling mistakes on the mail, then you could use it as prove to sue them. Meanwhile you know that this people do not even have a website, how are you gonna find out where they are? Let alone sue them!!!
Point to be noted- First thoughts are still better.

After a while you start to look at the future in your imaginary lenses with your imaginary monies in your empty pocket. $8000000 is a lot of money. Lets see, 40 Indian Rupees are about the same to a dollar. So thats about a whopping Rs. 320000000 ONLY!!! So what would a humble guy like myself do with all that money. Well first the ever undying desire for a powerful Bike do come into the picture; a YZF-R6 would be pretty smooth or maybe one of the Mustangs would turn quite a few heads. Maybe a few things here and there after that, get myself into a business of my own. Try to make the big into BIGGER!!

Now, like everyone else would, i spend a lot of my time thinking how to spend my 'monies'. Then i realize at the end of it all. If i turned out to be a great man, Cure AIDS, Feed the Hungry, write lots of books, started a better google, or even sing; people are gonna know that i started with a lot of money.

Greatness comes with a price. If you get there with something like a lot of money, what you reached will not be that great compared with what you started. Now i don't think i want this money anymore. :-)

There is that person who wants to make it big in the bad ol'world without a lot of money to lean on to. That man has nothing to lean on to except for a the All Mighty Himself. So lucky is he that do not receive an unexpected lottery money, for he has something better to hold on to.
Point to be noted - First or second thouhts, just choose the best!!!

Why I hate Journalist who do a bad job / The dirt war on religion

"In a scathing attack on Christians, Swami Kripalanandji of Giri Parampara in Tripura alleged thatmissionaries were behind extremist activities in the Northeast states and that there were 19 outfits conducting activities in the region, mainly targeting Hindus. ``Those who refuse to convert are tortured or killed,'' he alleged. ``In the past few years, more than 18 Vaishnav ashrams run by Hindus in Tripura have been demolished by the Christians, while those who dominate the upper classes, force people to adopt Christianity,'' he asserted.

The saint also denied any Government support and said that the Communist Government in Tripura offered no help to them. And while it was impossible for Hindus to live in Kohima, laborers in the tea gardens there have to follow the diktat of the missionaries. Apart from that, in Mizoram, where the Christians are the majority, 35,000 were ostracized from their caste for not adopting Christianity."

http://www.indianexpress.com/res/web/pIe/ie/daily/19990208/ige08029.htm
This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. And this is why I hate reporters who do a bad job. Well mr.journalist-man let me point something to you:

  • First thing is, there aren't that many Hindus among the Mizos to be "ostracized".
  • Secondly, the few devotees who are in Mizoram (mostly people who come from outside the state) live in harmony with the local people. One great example is, there is a Big Hindu temple next to a Christian minister (Member of Legislature) and here every important Hindu festivals are conducted.
I have seen in many instances that people throw dirt at the North-Eastern states of the country just because they don't know whats in there. If I were asked to comment on this report, I would definitely say this reporter is either very lazy OR he is pro-hinduism!!

Why do we have to fight with dirt. Lets take pillows instead!!!

We are all Indians

We are all Indians?
Arre Yaar! Are your sure?

Just the other day, i was with my friend buying somethings from the store, when a man walked up to us... Cleared his throat and came out with the most fake accent i have ever heard "excuse me, which country?"
At that point i would love to give my friend the credit of being patient enough to explain the details of 'his' country to a man who thinks he knows more just because he speaks Hindi. Being more similar to the Chinese side of descent, me and my friends get a lot of hu-has from my fellow Indians.
Its a shame for the country when the people doesn't recognize their own fellow citizens. Just because your brother wears different clothes does not imply he is no more your brother. We should recognize the fact that there are so many things different in each one of us, that makes us all very human. If one day we all look and feel the same way, then that is the day we come out of a production line.
We should all learn to respect each other. By saying this, i have definitely tried my part. I have tried (alot) to get along with people who dress properly but have DIRTY Feet. Believe me, i have tried.

Community in the 21st Century / Free Softwares

Mankind first lived in groups to protect themselves from Wild animals and enemies. They lived in groups to support themselves. Well that community has evolved over the centuries. In the 21st Century what is the community or society doing for mankind. Well i've just come across a speech by Eben Moglen (professor of law and general counsel for the Free Software Foundation) , an interesting speech at the Plone conference. Plone is an open source content management system (dont know much about it either)… The talk addresses free software and community in the 21st century.

Take a look and see. (It runs 65 minutes with a transcript here)

If you choose to drink

Alcohol is one of the few intoxications that are legally found in our world (world! Not aizawl haha). Strange though, when we know and see that alcohol disturbs normal human life than any other substances, that we still choose to make it legally and socially acceptable.

Anyway, if you are a binge drinker or the kind who unleashed those unknown monster from inside whenever you take a sip, its always better to prevent yourself from a lot of embarrassing situations. Here are a few precautions, If You Chose to drink-

1. Limits: Know and have limits and stick to them. Its always better to enjoy yourself with a few drinks than drowning yourself in red wine and struggling to come to dry land till morning. Its always good to stick to a certain number and not go beyond that (Even if the beer’s FREE!!)

2. Companions: Avoid drinking with strangers. Its more advisable to have close friends as companions. So when you suddenly decides to sleep, your friends will take pity on you and helps you sleep on the bed, instead of the Road. Remember when you don’t REMEMBER what you did that night?

3. The Aftermath: Plan out what you would be doing after the big showdown. If you are drinking at a friends’ place, its always advisable to spent the night there ( get consent from owner first before taking a sip). If you are driving home after the party take LESSER or get a driver! You don’t want to be crippled just because of a few extra peg. Girls, it doesn’t make sense relying on the driver, if the driver is an auto driver!! Its always advisable to hit the sack straight away after a party.

4. Friends: Don’t make new friends from a bar or a drinking party. Because your friendship could lead you more frequently to the first point of contact, a drinking place. If all you have in common is the liquid, then your future predictions says that there are a lot of flowing wine and soberty is a thing of the past.

5. Know what you drink: Try to drink the same kind of liquor on one session of a drinking party. If you jump from beer to rum, whiskey and whatever’s available all in one night, you’re bound to be embarrassed the morning after. If you drink homemade stuffs, be careful enough to ask how they make it (try to be more of a curious kind than skeptical when asking), if you don’t trust them Don’t drink more than a sip. You don’t want to be jogging from the bed to the toilet the next day.

6. Know this: If you go wild after a few rounds, Know that it shows you are very inexperienced and you never had enough to drink. Reading between the lines- You’re a L.O.S.E.R. If your friend is treating you to a night out and you seem to have an endless pit for the Lall Pani, you’re as sick as the above case. If you don’t know how to enjoy your own dose peacefully, stop drinking and get a life.

I think...

I think today the world is upside down, and is suffering so much because there is so very little love in the home, and in family life. We have no time for children, we have no time for each other, and there is no time to enjoy each other.

Love begins at home; love live in homes and that is why there is so much suffering and so much unhappiness in the world today... Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater development and greater riches and so on, so that children have very little time for their parents. Parents have very little time for each other, and in the home begin the disruption of the peace of the world.
